About Listan

A shopping list that keeps up with you.

Listan began as one family's answer to an old problem: the list on the fridge is never the one in your pocket. Write it once, and it is there on the phone in the shop, on the laptop at home and in the bar on your desktop, the same list everywhere and up to date the moment anything changes.

What it does

Type the way you think

"2 apples" or "Milk, 2L": Listan splits the name from the amount, so adding an item takes one line and one keystroke.

Live on every screen

Tick something off in the shop and it is ticked off at home too, without a reload.

Made for the aisle

A phone view with big tap targets for one hand and a trolley in the other. Ticked items sink to the bottom on their own.

Your order, your lists

Drag items into the order you walk the shop. Keep a list per shop or per week, and copy one to start the next.

Your lists are yours

  • Only you see what is on them. Not other users, and not us: the admin view shows how many lists and items an account has, never what they say.
  • Your email address is for signing in. We use it to confirm the account and to reset a forgotten password. No newsletters, nothing sold on.
  • No ads and no tracking cookies. Cookies are used only to keep you signed in.
  • Nothing lingers. A sign-up that is never confirmed is deleted after a week, and deleting a list deletes its items with it.

Who makes it

Listan is a small, independent project by Jonas Montonen, built and used every week by the Montonen family, which is the best way we know to keep a tool honest. It is deliberately simple: lists, items and a tick box, done well.

Using Listan from the Omarchy desktop? The omalistan plugin adds items from a quick-add box (dictation works too) and shows a list in the bar, through a personal API token you create under API tokens.
